“The Queen was usually served food from a set menu and if a new dish was being introduced, she would usually ask for the recipe. We have an abundance of strawberries at Balmoral Castle and one day I actually tried it. Saw interesting recipe called Tilwater Bonder Picker. Translated to Weald Farmer’s Daughter. I made it with strawberries, cream and sugar with a hint of cinnamon and sent to the queen. In return I received an angry note that said – “Who are these hidden farmer’s daughters?”, clearly didn’t like that dish,” Chef Darren McGrady shared.
