London-based Indian-origin restaurateur Amritpal Singh Mann, a philanthropist who has donated over 2 lakh meals to those in need since the start of the coronavirus pandemic, was honored on the Queen’s New Year Honors List. Mann was awarded the Order of the British Empire (OBE) for his contributions to charity and the community. Most people know him as Amrit Maan, a quiet philanthropist in Sikh and other communities, who has been supporting charities and various organizations for many years. He is best known as the MD of Punjab Restaurant in the Covent Garden area of London. The restaurant was founded in 1946 by Mann’s great-grandfather.

Mann has donated food worth Rs 10 crore to the British public, as well as to various community events, exhibitions and speeches, since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Value News agency ANI. told That he was “shocked of disbelief” when he initially received an email informing him of the honor. He then went on to say that because of the “ethos” of his family business’s selfless dedication to the community, he owed this honor on behalf of generations before him, who sacrificed and took risks.
Mann founded a social enterprise to promote British Punjabi musicians in late 2018.
On recognition, she said it underlined her resolve to continue philanthropic work and champion issues like women’s rights, social injustice, recognition. British Sikh History and support and increasing Sikh participation in the armed forces and police force among others.
Amandeep Madra OBE, president of the UK Punjab Heritage Association, also congratulated Mann for the honor and said his presence in the British Sikh community has been very impressive. Madra said that Mann was one Source of inspiration to other business owners, and his decades of volunteer service and financial support to Sikh charities have earned him national respect.
