Cricket South Africa (CSA) issued an official statement on de Kock’s decision, hours after the Proteas India suffered a crushing defeat of 113 runs In the first Test of the three-match series at Centurion’s SuperSport Park. De Kock scored 34 runs in the first innings of the Centurion Test, followed by 21 in the second.

De Kock’s retirement means South Africa will have a new wicketkeeper in their playing XI for the last two matches of the ongoing Test series against India.
The Proteas have Kyle Verne and Ryan Rickelton as the other two wicketkeeping options in the squad.
