Rachel Weisz to star in ‘Scenes of a Wait Afternoon’ adaptation

The film follows a self-proclaimed psychic medium who convinces her husband to kidnap a child, so that he can help the police solve the crime and achieve fame.

Oscar winner Rachel Weisz will headline the film adaptation of the hit thriller novel “Scenes on a Wait Afternoon.”

Star Weiss of films such as “The Constant Gardner”, “The Mummy” franchise, “The Favorite” and “Black Widow” will also produce the project that follows Legendary.

Tomas Alfredson, best known for his critically acclaimed film “Tinker, Teller, Soldier, Spy,” reports Deadline.

Alfredson replaced “Enola Holmes” assistant Harry Bradbeer, who would remain as an executive producer.

Written by author Mark McShane and published in 1961, “Scenes on a Wait Afternoon” follows a self-proclaimed psychic medium who convinces her husband to kidnap a child so that she can help the police solve the crime and help her. Abilities could help in gaining fame.

When her true intentions are revealed, however, her husband learns that the plan threatens to devour them both. The novel was first adapted as a film in 1964. It starred Richard Attenborough and Kim Stanley. The film features a script by Jack Thorne, from a story by himself and Bradbeer.

Weiss will produce through his banner Appetite Pictures with Robin Slovo, Legendary, Emma Forbes and Michael Attenborough.
