Rachin Ravindra became the youngest player since Ish Sodhi to make his New Zealand Test debut. Cricket News – Times of India

Kanpur: Wellington Firebirds all-rounder Rachin Ravindra has become the smallest New Zealand since test debut Ish Sodhi (Bangladesh, 2013), after making it to the playing XI against India in the first Test of the two-match series here.
The 22-year-old will wear the Test cap number 282 and bat at seven in a spin-strong bowling line-up that includes Ajaz Patel, Will Somerville and pacers Tim Southee and Kyle Jamieson.
Ravindra was presented with his Test cap by Firebirds teammate Tom Blundell, who has taken over the Test wicketkeeping gloves since the retirement of BJ Watling.

Young will open the batting in the absence of injured Devon Conway. The match is a first for the Blackcaps in the new ICC World Test Championship cycle.
In the first Test, Ajinkya Rahane is leading India in the absence of regular skipper Virat Kohli.
