Raja Bhaiya, a six-time MLA from Kunda, tweeted a picture of himself with Mulayam Singh Yadav after the meeting and wrote, “Meet the Hon’ble Mulayam Singh Yadav after a long time, emotional moment.”

Talking to the media in Lucknow on Thursday, Raja Bhaiya said, ‘I had come to wish Mulayam Singh Yadav on his birthday. Every year I have to congratulate Netaji on his birthday. His birthday was not celebrated for the last two years so I could not come. No political speculation should be made about this meeting.

During the Rajya Sabha elections in 2018, the Samajwadi Party had differences with Raja Bhaiya over the closeness of the SP-BSP. The political animosity between Raja Bhaiya and BSP chief Mayawati is well known in UP. After this Raghuraj had announced his political party Jansatta Dal. Singh is said to have had good relations with Mulayam Singh and has also served as a minister when Mulayam was the chief minister of the state.

Earlier on Wednesday, Aam Aadmi Party’s Rajya Sabha member and UP in-charge Sanjay Singh went to meet Akhilesh Yadav in Lucknow. The meeting between the two leaders took place at the Janeshwar Mishra Trust, fueling political speculation of any understanding between the SP and AAP over some key UP seats in the NCR region for the 2022 UP state assembly elections. However, both the camps termed the meeting as a purely ‘courtesy’ meeting.

This was the third meeting between Sanjay Singh and Akhilesh Yadav in recent times. Earlier on Monday, there was a meeting between the two leaders on the occasion of Mulayam Singh’s birthday. Sanjay Singh also tweeted a picture of himself presenting a bouquet to Mulayam Singh and wrote, “Happy Birthday to the former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Hon’ble Mulayam Singh Yadav ji, leader of Indian politics. I met him at his residence in Lucknow and wished him a long life.”

Apart from this, on the occasion of Akhilesh’s birthday in July, Sanjay Singh also met Akhilesh, when he praised the SP chief and pointed out the similarities between him and Kejriwal.
