“Rahul Gandhi Did Not Follow Protocol”: Delhi Police On Security Breach Charges

Police have alleged that Rahul Gandhi himself was seen breaking the cordon.

new Delhi:

A day after central paramilitary force CRPF hit back at Congress alleging security breaches Rahul Gandhi’s In ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’, Delhi Police has also said that the Congress MP himself did not follow the security protocol and there were complete security arrangements.

The Delhi Police submitted its report to the Ministry of Home Affairs.

Congress general secretary KC Venugopal had earlier written to Home Minister Amit Shah alleging that the security of the Yatra was compromised several times after it entered Delhi on Saturday. The Home Ministry had then sought a report from the Delhi Police.

All the units of Security, Traffic and Special Branch of Delhi Police have submitted their reports.

The Delhi Police also deployed several policemen in plain clothes and made a security cordon for Rahul Gandhi.

Police have alleged that Rahul Gandhi himself was seen breaking the cordon.

The CRPF, in its rebuttal yesterday, had also said that Gandhi broke security protocols on several occasions.

The Congress has demanded proper security for the leader when the yatra enters “sensitive areas” of Punjab and Jammu and Kashmir.

“The security arrangements made for the protected person work well when the security guard himself follows the security guidelines laid down. However, it has been pointed out that on several occasions violations of the guidelines laid down by Shri Rahul Gandhi have been observed and This fact has come to the fore. It was informed to him from time to time,” the CRPF had said, adding that Mr Gandhi had broken protocol 113 times since 2020.

The route of the grand old party’s all-India march ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’ in Delhi on 24 December was 23 km long.
