Rahul Gandhi reveals his favorite bike, ‘not interested in cars’

In the latest interview with The Bombay Journey, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has revealed personal details about his life. Gandhi, who is currently busy with Congress’s Bharat Jodo Yatra, said he prefers cycling to motorcycling. The Wayanad MP said he doesn’t like cars but is interested in driving. Gandhi said that he knows 90% of the technicalities of a car and can fix it, but is not obsessed with cars.

The Congress leader told The Bombay Journey, “I find the same beauty in an old Lambretta as in an R1. In some ways, the Lambretta is more beautiful because it takes more effort to drive, it is more dangerous.”

Between bikes, Rahul Gandhi revealed that he dislikes “Enfields” as well. He said that though people like the brakes or balance of the Enfield, he likes the Yamaha RD350.

Rahul Gandhi said, “My favorite bike was the one when I used to work in London. It was the love of my life. The Aprilia RS 250.”

On electric vehicles, Gandhi said the EVs revolution needs a foundation and India is nowhere near it. “Foundation means production of batteries. All that is being done is ad hoc”.

The senior Congress leader also spoke about the planes. Remembering his father, late Rajiv Gandhi, he said, “My father was a pilot and something I learned from him is that flying is partly about an aeroplane, but it is more about attitude and approach. My father always told me to fly the plane and don’t let the plane fly me which means a pilot should be in front of the plane”.

Nowadays, Gandhi said he prefers cycling in Delhi because he finds driving “dangerous” and that cycling helps him use “his power”.
