Rahul Gandhi tore Hooda’s shirt to ‘stage’ Delhi Police’s arbitrariness: BJP

BJP IT cell chief Amit Malviya shared a picture of Rahul Gandhi on Twitter, in which he is seen pulling off the shirt of his colleague Deepender Hooda. Amit Malviya said it was a “stunt” to get a good protest picture and blamed Delhi Police for “indecency”.

The caption of Malviya’s tweet read: “After one arm twist from Priyanka Vadra, here’s another. Rahul Gandhi Torn the shirt of his colleague Deepender Hooda so that it made for a good protest picture and blamed Delhi Police for the arbitrariness. The Gandhi brothers and sisters are strong supporters of the politics of tamasha.”

Earlier, BJP spokesperson Shahzad Poonawalla had tweeted a picture of Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra. Shahzad Poonawalla alleged that Priyanka Gandhi was “twisting” the hand of a Delhi Police officer.

Congress is protesting outside Parliament and All India Congress Committee headquarters against the central government on the issue of inflation and unemployment.

Over 300 Congress leaders, including Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and Shashi Tharoor, were detained by police for over six hours after they were taken from protest sites in Delhi. Rahul Gandhi has alleged that some party MPs were also beaten up by the police.

“A total of 335 protesters, including 65 MPs, have been detained under the 65 Delhi Police Act for maintaining law and order in the area… The protesters tried to stop the police officers from performing their duties, beat them up and made them injured. Appropriate legal action is being taken,” Delhi Police told ANI.

Security was tightened at many places except Jantar Mantar and Section 144 was imposed in New Delhi area.

Protests also took place at other places across the country and several protesters were detained in Mumbai, Chandigarh and other places. Police also used water cannons to disperse Congress leaders and workers in Chandigarh who were protesting against the Center on the issue of inflation and unemployment.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah Congress leaders dressed in black to protest the foundation of Ram temple laid by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in August 2020 have been linked to the party’s “appeasement” politics.
