New Delhi: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi Left for a “short personal trip” abroad on Tuesday.
Though the party did not give any details about the visit, reports suggest that Rahul is likely to be in Europe.
The former Congress president will return by Sunday before the presidential election and the monsoon session. Parliament on 18 July.
Due to the tour, Rahul will go to an important meeting of the party on Thursday regarding preparations for the ‘Bharat Jodi Yatra’ and internal elections of the Congress.
All the general secretaries, in-charge and PCC presidents have been invited to the meeting.
Rahul is often criticized by opposition parties for his frequent foreign trips, sometimes during important events affecting the party.
Some of Rahul’s recent tours have also been in controversies.
In early May, Rahul had courted controversy when he was seen at a nightclub in Kathmandu, Nepal.
Later, during his visit to the UK, he termed the Indian Foreign Service officers as “arrogant”. He then met British Labor Party leader and MP Jeremy Corbyn, who was questioning the status of Jammu and Kashmir as an integral part of India.
