Railway employee arrested for espionage in Jaipur. Pune News – Times of India

Pune: The Military Intelligence Unit of the Army’s Southern Command in Pune, in collaboration with the Rajasthan Police, claimed to have busted one on Friday. Spy Racket following the arrest of a Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS) worker of Indian Railways’ postal services in Jaipur.
“The 27-year-old worker will open military-related correspondence, click pictures on his mobile and send it to operatives of Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence.ISI) in the last few months,” said an Army official.
“The third class employee was posted in the sorting department of the Railway Postal Service. He worked only in night shifts and opened all letters, which contained the Army Post Office (APO) address and photograph on his mobile It was clicked and sent to the agent through a mobile messenger app,” said Umesh Mishra, Director General (DG) of Intelligence, Rajasthan Police.
“The worker had met one of the ISI agents on a social media platform a few months back. The agent introduced himself as a female nursing assistant and was posted in Port Blair, Andaman and Nicobar Island. They were on a video call from the Messenger app. Were in touch through the medium,’ he added.
Army sources said this is a specific case of a ‘honey trap’ where ISI agents trap women to trap Indian employees working in various government departments to extract information about defense installations.
“In this case, the employee came under our scanner after his name cropped up during technical surveillance. We tracked him down and established his relationship with the agents. We recovered photographs of some letters from his mobile. We will investigate the matter. To establish further links in the matter,” said another source in the Army.
The employee has been arrested under the Official Secrets Act 1923 and is being interrogated jointly by central and state agencies. NS Indian Army Through its postal service, it sends a number of official correspondence daily to various units and establishments.
