The Supreme Court on Friday directed the Rajasthan government to pay compensation to children orphaned by COVID-19 within two weeks. A bench of Justices MR Shah and Sudhanshu Dhulia also ordered the state government to submit details to the State Legal Services Authority regarding the rejected applications for payment of ex-gratia within two weeks. The Rajasthan government informed the apex court that the ex-gratia amount has been paid to 191 children orphaned due to Kovid, out of a total of 718 children.

On the issue of suicide deaths, the counsel for the state government also told the bench that 9,077 applications were received at the district level, out of which 551 are pending, 8047 are approved and 479 have been rejected.
