Rajasthan cabinet reshuffle: 15 ministers will take oath at 4 pm

This is the first cabinet reshuffle of the Gehlot government, which came to power in December 2018.

Officials said that fifteen new ministers of Rajasthan will take oath on November 21 at 4 pm at the Raj Bhavan in Jaipur as part of the cabinet reshuffle.

The ministers include 11 cabinet ministers and four ministers of state (MoS).

The reshuffle on November 21 in the new Rajasthan cabinet will see 12 new faces, including five from the Sachin Pilot camp.

This is the first cabinet reshuffle of the Gehlot government, which came to power in December 2018.

Three ministers – Govind Singh Dotasara, Harish Choudhary and Raghu Sharma – have been dropped and their resignations have been accepted by the governor on the recommendation of the chief minister, while three ministers – Mamta Bhupesh, Tikaram Julie and Bhajan Lal Jatav – have been made ministers of state. will be promoted from up to cabinet rank.

While Mr. Dotasara, Mr. Choudhary and Mr. Sharma resigned on 19 November, other ministers resigned at the meeting of the Council of Ministers on 20 November.

The resignations of Mr. Sharma, Mr. Choudhary and Mr. Dotasara were accepted as they are holding party positions and the “one man, one post” formula has been implemented in the state.

Mr. Sharma has been appointed as All India Congress Committee (AICC) in-charge for Gujarat and Mr. Choudhary has been appointed as AICC in-charge for Punjab. Mr. Dotasara is the head of the Rajasthan Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC).

The Ashok Gehlot-led Congress government will have a total of 30 ministers, including 18 who had resigned earlier.

Rajasthan can have a maximum of 30 ministers including the Chief Minister.

Party sources said the three state ministers – who have been promoted to cabinet rank – belong to the Scheduled Caste (SC) community.

The new state cabinet will have four Scheduled Caste members and three ministers from the Scheduled Tribe (ST) community, sources said, adding that the cabinet will also include three women – one Muslim, one from the SC community and one Gujjar.

The new ministers who took oath as cabinet ministers are Hemaram Choudhary, Mahendrajit Singh Malviya, Ramlal Jatt, Mahesh Joshi, Vishvendra Singh, Ramesh Meena, Mamta Bhupesh Bhairwa, Bhajanlal Jatav, Tikaram Julie, Govind Ram Meghwal and Shakuntala Rawat.

Zahida, Brijendra Singh Ola, Rajendra Durha and Murlilal Meena will take oath as the new ministers of state.

Mahesh Joshi is the chief whip of the government.

Those from the Sachin Pilot camp who have been inducted into the ministry are Vishvendra Singh, Ramesh Meena and Hemaram Choudhary as cabinet ministers and Brijendra Ola and Murari Meena as ministers of state.

Two of them – Vishvendra Singh and Ramesh Meena – were sacked as cabinet ministers last year during a political crisis in the state.

Another SC member, former MP Govind Ram Meghwal, is a new face to join the renewed cabinet.

Rajendra Singh Guda, one of the six MLAs who left the BSP and joined the Congress, has also been included as a minister of state.

No independent MLAs have been given ministerial berths, while some of them will be inducted as parliamentary secretaries.

Sources said some former BSP MLAs would also be inducted as parliamentary secretaries, with some senior legislators being made advisors to the chief minister.

After the victory of the Congress in the by-elections held recently in two assembly seats, the number of the ruling party has reached 108 in the house of 200.
