Singh said that seeing the heavy presence of his team and the local police, the gamblers sitting together in the hotel hall started running away.
Officials further said that all these gamblers were from Gujarat. “It is becoming a trend in the districts adjoining Gujarat, where people come to drink and gamble on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Many other areas of Jalore and Sirohi districts are on our radar for future action
Suryaveer Singh Rathore said, “We managed to arrest 45 people on gambling charges and seized around Rs 34.50 lakh in the denominations of Rs 500 and Rs 100 from their possession. All the money was collected by various gamblers as bets. And put in the bucket.” , the Deputy Superintendent of Police who were also part of the operation.
Meanwhile, four gamblers who tried to jump down the stairs of the hotel were injured. “The condition of one of them is said to be critical,” Singh said.
The raiding team also seized 20 vehicles.
