As a precautionary measure, the curfew imposed in Rajasthan’s Karauli has been extended till 12 am on Thursday, April 10, in view of the law and order situation in the violence-hit city. Curfew will be relaxed for three hours from Friday.
Also, curfew was imposed after incidents of arson and vandalism on Saturday in view of stone pelting in bike rally on Nav Samvatsar (Hindu New Year). The bike rally was passing through a Muslim dominated area. Karauli,
The rally was taken out by right-wing organizations including Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP), Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and Bajrang Dal.
Around 35 people were injured in the accident violence, The Congress called it an attempt to polarize the people, while the opposition BJP termed the violence as “a well-planned conspiracy”.
A seven-member BJP delegation today submitted its report to state president Satish Poonia and party’s state in-charge Arun Singh.
Rathore said the police had videographed the rally but did not take action against the main accused Ameemuddin and Matlub Khan, while they were part of the peace committee meeting after the violence.
Rathore said that people associated with organizations like PFI are involved in the incident.
He said, “The administration had promised that it would file a report against the miscreants. However, injustice is being done to the victims by the government and administration under pressure from the Rajasthan government and Congress leaders.”
Jitendra Singh, MLAs Rafiq Khan and Lalit Yadav, who were part of the Congress probe team, also visited Karauli and discussed the situation with the officials and inquired about the incident from the local people. Congress spokesperson Swarnim Chaturvedi said that a conspiracy was hatched to polarize the people.
