Rajasthan: Curfew in Karauli after 35 injured in stone pelting

It said some miscreants pelted stones at him at a rally passing through a Muslim-majority area on the first day of the new year under the Hindu calendar, leading to communal clashes, which had some two-wheelers and shops. were blown up.

Amid communal tension in the city, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot spoke to the state police chief from Barmer and sought details of the incident. He directed for strict action in the matter and appealed to the people to maintain peace and cooperate in maintaining law and order.

Police officials including Bharatpur IGP Prashan Kumar Khamesra and Karauli SP Shailendra Singh reached the spot and an additional police force was deployed to control the situation, the PCR said.

Rajasthan DGP ML Lather has also posted ADG Sanjib Kumar, IG Bharat Lal Meena, DIG Jaipur Crime Branch Rahul Prakash and DCP, Jaipur South, Mridul Kachwa in Karauli.

Police headquarters sources said that around 600 policemen, including 50 officers, have been deployed to maintain law and order in Karauli. BJP state president Satish Poonia blamed the Congress government for the incident.

The appeasement policy of the Congress government is responsible for this. No arrest has been made so far. It was a well-planned attack on a bike rally organized on the occasion of Hindu New Year.”
