JAIPUR: The Election Commission (EC) on Saturday issued an order curtailing the time till 7 pm for campaigning for the bypolls. Vallabhnagar And because of Dhariawad Kovid.
It said that there would be no election campaign between 7 pm and 10 am in these two assembly constituencies. The commission increased the ‘silence period’ from 48 hours to 72 hours, which means the campaigning will end on October 27 at 6 pm.
State Chief Electoral Officer Praveen Gupta said that all the instructions issued by the Election Commission of India (ECI) during the West Bengal elections in view of the COVID-19 pandemic will be applicable in the upcoming by-elections as well. The by-elections for both the assembly constituencies will be held on October 30 from 7 am to 6 pm and the counting of votes will take place on November 2. A total of 5.11 lakh voters will exercise their franchise in both the constituencies. While 2.53 lakh voters will be able to cast their votes in Vallabhnagar, 2.57 lakh voters will exercise their franchise in Dhariyawad.
Vallabhnagar has 1.29 lakh male voters and 1.24 lakh female voters. Out of the total electors in Dhariyawad, 1.29 lakh voters are male voters and 1.27 lakh are female voters. Apart from this, there are 90 service voters in Vallabhnagar and 8 in Dhariyawad.
