Rajasthan: Shobha Yatra taken out amidst tight security in Jaipur

Elaborate security arrangements were made for the Ram Navami Shobha Yatra organized in Jaipur, Rajasthan on Sunday. After this, Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) was imposed in the city. Violence erupts in Karauli During a bike rally on Nav Samvatsar (Hindu New Year) earlier this month.

The Rajasthan government had imposed curfew in several cities to maintain law and order in the wake of incidents of stone pelting at a bike rally in Karauli.

The Shobha Yatra concluded peacefully in Jaipur on Sunday, April 10 and there were no reports of communal flare-ups in the state capital.

The procession passed peacefully through old city Jaipur including Ramganj, Manak Chowk and Subhash Chowk. Hundreds of people welcomed him as he passed the Shobha Yatra on Ram Navami in Jaipur.

The Jaipur Police remained on high alert as more than 1200 personnel were deployed on the yatra route, on the roofs and roofs of high-rise buildings. Surveillance and inspection was also being done through drones and senior police officers were part of the march past carried out in the area.

DCP Paris Deshmukh told India Today, “DJs were not allowed to play music for the Shobha Yatra as Section 144 was in force. Provocative sloganeering will not be allowed during the Yatra.”

Rajasthan Minister organizes ‘Ram Darbar’

Meanwhile, Rajasthan Minister Pratap Singh Khachariyawas today organized ‘Ram Darbar’ to offer prayers to Lord Ram.

Speaking to India Today, Pratap Singh Khachariawas said, “Lord Ram cannot be divided between BJP and Congress. BJP should stop indulging in communal politics.”

The Rajasthan BJP had claimed that the violence in Karauli was part of a pre-planned conspiracy or a failure on the part of the state government to control the communal violence.

“There was a pre-planned plot. How did so many stones get deposited on the terraces before the Shoba Yatra passed through the area?” Rajasthan BJP President Dr Satish Poonia questioned.

According to the police, the rally in Karauli was taken out by right-wing organizations including Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP), Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and Bajrang Dal.

Hundreds of RSS volunteers were dancing to the music playing along with the DJ. As the procession reached the part of Hatwara Road, which houses several houses of members of the minority community, it came under attack allegedly by miscreants, who started pelting stones from terraces and terraces.

After stone pelting on Hatwara Road during the procession, some people allegedly ransacked the Futa Chowk area, which is called the heart of Karauli. Several shops were torched there and more than 70 vehicles were torched.
