Defense Minister Rajnath Singh will make a statement in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday about the “unintentional” firing in Pakistan last week. India said on Friday that the missile was fired by mistake due to a technical snag.
The Pakistani military had said that an Indian missile had entered Pakistani airspace and caused some damage to surrounding areas after falling near a place called Miyan Channu in its territory.
The Indian Defense Ministry said it has ordered a Court of Inquiry into the incident and said it was a matter of relief that no one was killed due to the accidental firing.
“On 9 March 2022, during routine maintenance, a technical fault resulted in the accidental firing of the missile. The Government of India has taken a serious view and ordered a High Level Court of Inquiry,” the Defense Ministry said. a statement.
“It has been learned that the missile landed in an area of Pakistan. This incident is extremely regrettable, but it is also a matter of relief that no one was killed in the accident,” the statement said.
