Around 40 MLAs of Rajasthan Congress and some independents have left for a hotel in Udaipur as the party tries to keep its flock together in four seats ahead of the Rajya Sabha elections.

The MLAs boarded a luxury bus from the Chief Minister’s residence at Civil Lines and left for Udaipur around 5 pm. The police team saved the bus.

The MLAs and other leaders, who attended a state Congress workshop at a hotel in Jaipur, were called to Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot’s residence for lunch.

After lunch, the MLA boarded the bus and left for Udaipur. The party has decided to move the MLAs to Udaipur fearing poaching by the BJP, which, besides fielding an official candidate, is backing media giant Subhash Chandra, who has filed nomination as an independent.

Congress has fielded three candidates. Polling for four seats will be held on June 10.
