Jaipur: Rajya Sabha MP Subhash Chandra Filed his nomination from Rajasthan for the election to the Upper House of Parliament independent Supported by BJP on Tuesday.
Elections on four seats will be held on June 10, for which Congress has fielded three candidates Mukul Wasnik, Pramod. Tiwari And Randeep Singh Surjewala While BJP has named former minister Ghanshyam Tiwari.
Tiwari also filed his nomination papers along with Chandra on Tuesday.
BJP’s chief spokesperson Ramlal Sharma told reporters outside the assembly building, “Two nominations have been filed. Subhash Chandra as an independent and Ghanshyam Tiwari as BJP candidate. BJP is supporting Subhash Chandra.”
He claimed that both of them would win the elections.
“Ghanshyam Tiwari will win on the party’s symbol and Subhash Chandra will win as an independent,” he said.
BJP state president Satish Poonia said that the party has appealed to the independent MLAs and MLAs of other parties to vote for the BJP-backed candidate Subhash Chandra.
He said the contest would be interesting and both the candidates would win.
“We have made a personal and public appeal to the Independents and MLAs of other parties to vote for the BJP-backed candidate. There is internal fighting and resentment within the Congress party which is affecting governance,” he said.
“For those who care about the farmers, youth and people of the state, this is an opportunity to teach a lesson to the Congress,” he said.
Independent candidate Subhash Chandra thanked the BJP for supporting him and said he would get more votes than necessary.
Subhash Chandra is a Rajya Sabha MP from Haryana and his term is going to end on August 1, 2022.
In the 200-member Rajasthan Assembly, Congress has 108, BJP 71, Independents 13, Rashtriya Loktantrik Party (RLP) has three, CPM and Bharatiya Tribal Party (BTP) two each and Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) has 1 MLA. .
