Actress Rakul Preet Singh says the confidence of filmmakers and writers in her talent acts as a major confidence booster while heading a project.

The Delhi-born actor, best known for Hindi films “De De Pyaar De”, “Attack”, “Runway 34” and titles such as “Saraynodu”, “Dhruv” and “Spider” from the south, is playing the central role. Character in the upcoming social comedy “Chhatriwali”.

In the film directed by Tejas Prabha Vijay Deoskar, she plays the quality control head of a condom factory. The film is supported by Ronnie Screwvala’s banner RSVP.

He said, ‘I think when a film is on you, it is a big responsibility. It is the trust of the team that you have in you, which in itself is a big booster,” Rakul told PTI in an interview.

She believes that women-centric films are a result of the development of writing as well as the audience’s openness to diverse stories.

“With the progress of the years, more and more women-centric films are being written. Actors younger than me or me, like Jhanvi (Kapoor), Sara (Ali Khan) and others are doing female-oriented films as the writing has evolved. Also the audience is ready to see him.”

With “Chhatriwali”, Rakul said that her endeavor is to reach out to a wider audience.

“It is a family film. The topic may be the need of the hour, but it is told in a simple, pleasant and sweet manner. I try to do films that I can watch with my parents.”

Apart from ‘Chhatriwali’, the actor will be seen in the campus comedy ‘Doctor Ji’ with Ayushmann Khurrana, Indra Kumar’s ‘Thank God’. Siddharth Malhotra And ‘Indian 2’ with South Star Kamal Haasan. Rakul said that ‘Thank God’ is set to hit the theaters during Diwali, while the release dates of ‘Doctor Ji’ and ‘Chhatriwali’ will be announced soon.

The 31-year-old actress, who recently resumed shooting for “Indian 2”, says she considers herself lucky that she got a chance to work with Haasan.

The Tamil-language film, directed by Shankar, is a follow-up to Haasan’s 1996 cautious action-thriller “Indian”.

“It is great to be a part of a franchise which was accepted unanimously. It is great to get a chance to work with Kamal sir and Shankar sir,” said Rakul. Her latest release is the feature film “Katputli”, which is a 2018 release. It is a remake of Tamil psychological thriller “Ratsasan”.
