In 2018, the South Central Railway (SCR) declared it an all-women staffed railway station, and promised to develop it in all aspects. The officials then hoped that this would ease the pressure at the main station in Vijayawada.

Around 19 passenger trains stop at the station while more than 40 express and superfast trains pass through without stopping.

One station superintendent, three station masters, six point women and two personal women staff man the station. A canteen is being operated by women staff on platform number one.

Railway officials say, “It is a matter of pride that only Ramavarappadu railway station in Vijayawada division has been designated as women staff station.”

“Ramavarappadu station has two platforms, and it is proposed to be developed as a satellite station. But nothing has been done so far. Since there are no coaches and digital display boards, passengers are usually seen running on platforms when trains stop.
