Ramp show between potholes: MP women walk the catwalk to protest! – times of India

It seems like fashion has become the new norm for some reason. While many groups of people around the world have already used fashion as a platform to protest against global warming, sustainability and vegetarianism, a group of socially conscious women in the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh has taken to the potholes of the Bhopal area. Catwalked to protest the streets.

Videos of the incident went viral on social media soon after a group of women took to a catwalk on potholed roads of an area in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, to attract the attention of the authorities.

The area named Danish Nagar is probably a posh area but despite this the condition of the roads is poor. Anshu Gupta, the organizer of the event, told PTI, “Despite paying more taxes, no development work has been done.

“Since our representations of officials and elected representatives on the lack of facilities have gone unheard, we organized this catwalk on the potholes and waterlogged streets of Danish Nagar. If our problems are not resolved, we will not vote. Or won’t pay taxes,” she said. added.

In the video going viral on social media, women and children can be seen walking on potholed roads, some of which are even falling.

Many women wore elegant saris and simple salwar suits to take part in the protest catwalks. The participants also carried placards in a statement made by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan in 2017, which said that the roads in MP were better than those in the United States.

“Are these broken, battered roads better than the streets of Washington,” asked a placard in Hindi.

Bhopal Municipal Corporation zonal officer Nilesh Srivastava said that he came to know about the protest from the media, but assured that the municipal engineers would inspect the spot on Monday, adding that his department is yet to take the matter from the local residents. I haven’t received any complaints.

Local BJP MLA Krishna Gaur could not be contacted despite repeated attempts.
