Ramzan 2022: This Jackfruit Biryani Will Taste Your Taste

Everyone likes Biryani. This one-pot dish has long been popular, despite its many variations and methods of preparation. If you are looking for something different from the usual meat-based biryani, try this jackfruit (kathal) biryani. This innovative vegetarian biryani uses raw jackfruit and is very tasty. If you want to spice up your Iftar feast then this dish will undoubtedly come in handy. Chef Kunal Kapoor shared this unique Jackfruit Biryani recipe on Instagram. Raw jackfruit gives rice its juicy flavor, making this one pot recipe incredibly delicious.

Component:

Kathal Chunks – 5 cups

Salt

Chili Powder – 2 tsp

Turmeric – tsp

Coriander Powder – 1 tbsp

Ginger paste – 1 tbsp

Garlic paste – 1 tbsp

Roasted gram flour – 3 tbsp

Oil – 4 tbsp

to bag

Oil – 1 cup

Shahi Jeera – 2 tsp

cardamom – 5

Cinnamon stick – 1

Onion chopped – 21/2 cups

Garlic paste – 1 tbsp

Ginger paste – 1 tbsp

water – a dash

Turmeric – tsp

Chili Powder – 1 tbsp

Coriander Powder – 1½ tbsp

Curd – 1½ cups

salt to taste

Cardamom powder – tsp

Mace Powder – tsp

Kewra water – 1 tbsp

Rose water – 1 tbsp

Green chili – 2

Mint leaves – 1 cup

for rice

Basmati rice – 3 cups

water – 3 liters

salt – handful

Green chili – 1

Cardamom – 4-5

Rose water – 1 tbsp

Kewra water – tbsp

Saffron (dissolved in 2 tbsp milk) – a pinch

Boiled rice water – 1 cup

Ghee / remaining oil – 3 tbsp

Mint leaves – a handful

Fried Onion – a handful

Dough – for sealing

How to make Jackfruit Biryani?

1) First of all, marinate the jackfruit pieces well using chili powder, turmeric, coriander powder, ginger garlic paste, roasted gram flour and salt.

2) Fry the kathal pieces lightly on a griddle in very little oil. However, they should be brown. Once done, remove them and keep aside.

3) Now, prepare a fine jhol using the mentioned ingredients and add the marinated kathal pieces to it. Let it cook for few minutes. Add soaked and filtered rice to it.

4) Spread the rice evenly over the gravy (kathal pieces). Cover the container with a lid and seal it well using flour. Follow the popular dum recipe to cook biryani. Once ready, take your handi off the heat and let it rest for about ten minutes. serve hot.
