If you are looking for something different from the usual meat-based biryani, try this jackfruit (kathal) biryani. This innovative vegetarian biryani uses raw jackfruit and is very tasty. Kathal Chunks – 5 cups
Salt
Chili Powder – 2 tsp
Turmeric – tsp
Coriander Powder – 1 tbsp
Ginger paste – 1 tbsp
Garlic paste – 1 tbsp
Roasted gram flour – 3 tbsp
Oil – 4 tbsp

water – 3 liters

How to make Jackfruit Biryani?
1) First of all, marinate the jackfruit pieces well using chili powder, turmeric, coriander powder, ginger garlic paste, roasted gram flour and salt.
2) Fry the kathal pieces lightly on a griddle in very little oil. However, they should be brown. Once done, remove them and keep aside.
3) Now, prepare a fine jhol using the mentioned ingredients and add the marinated kathal pieces to it. Let it cook for few minutes. Add soaked and filtered rice to it.
4) Spread the rice evenly over the gravy (kathal pieces). Cover the container with a lid and seal it well using flour. Follow the popular dum recipe to cook biryani. Once ready, take your handi off the heat and let it rest for about ten minutes. serve hot.
