Form of words:

Reva: Congress Rajya Sabha member Rajamani Patel has claimed that Rani Kamalapati was married to a Muslim man and a railway station in BJP-ruled Madhya Pradesh was named after a Gond queen to mislead people.

Earlier this month, while announcing the name of the renovated Habibganj railway station in the state capital after Rani Kamalapati, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan described her as the pride of the Gond community and the last Hindu queen of Bhopal.

Patel, however, while talking to reporters here on Saturday claimed that the tribal queen befriended a Muslim commander and sought his help to attack (others), but later had a “love affair” with him. Took a water samadhi.

The name of a station in Bhopal was changed to mislead the people. It was named after Rani Kamalapati, the last tribal queen (of Bhopal). Common people don’t know who was Queen Kamalapati? She was a tribal. Whom did he marry? She was married to a Muslim. Now ask (Prime Minister) Modi ji whether she was a pure Hindu or a pure Muslim, she said.

The Congress leader also accused the BJP of dividing the society in the name of Hindus and Muslims and changing history to seek votes.

You all know what was the character of the Raja-Maharajas. I do not want to go into what the King Maharajas did to the country.

Asked whether Kamalapati was a Muslim, Patel said let them (BJP) clarify, and claimed that children of BJP leaders were also married to members of the Muslim community.

Earlier this month, Chouhan had said that the kingdom of Rani Kamalapati was annexed through a conspiracy by Afghan commander Dost Mohammad.

The CM said, “When he saw that victory was not possible, he committed ‘Jal Jauhar’ (ritual suicide) to save his honour.

His son Naval Shah was killed in Lalghati, a part of present-day Bhopal, he noted.

Before renaming Habibganj railway station, the Madhya Pradesh government had said in a letter to the Center that Rani Kamalapati was married to Nizam Shah, son of Suraj Singh Shah, the ruler of Ginnaurgarh.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the revamped Kamlapati Railway Station in Bhopal on 15 November.
