Raw stone quarries: Public hearing will be held today

The Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board (TNPCB) will hold a public hearing on Tuesday on the proposal to set up raw stone mines at Chennampatti village in Anthiyur taluk.

A release said that four persons had applied for excavation of land to the extent of 17.99 hectares in Chennampatti village and as per the notification issued by the Ministry of Environment and Forests on September 14, 2006, environment clearance was mandatory. A public hearing was to be held at Kongu Marriage Hall at Sanisandai in Chennampatti village at 11 am on Tuesday and the public could participate and give their opinion on the proposals.

Officials said the four proposed mines aim to produce about 31,56,818 meters of rough stone and 86,387 meters of top soil over a period of five years.
