“We definitely needed that. We scored a good total. We are headed in the right direction as a batting unit. We have been very good in the bowling department. I thought it would be good to get 165,” Faf said about the totals set at the break.

Faf praised the group’s bowling effort and said they were fortunate to have experienced players in the middle.
“Really some great catching and good bowling. We are very lucky to have experienced people. I love trusting senior players. Just keep improving the batting department. We want to bat one of the top four. The positive brand of cricket needs to keep playing,” he concluded.

Captain Faf du Plessis was crucial in the evening as he gave RCB a much-needed quick start as his teammate struggled for time. South Africa’s 38 off 22 balls made life a little easier for Kohli, who scored 30 off 33 balls before dismissing Moeen Ali.

RCB were struggling in the middle overs, losing three wickets in three overs, but were saved by a power-packed innings from Mahipal Lomror and Dinesh Karthik, who took them to a respectable total of 173 runs.
At the end of the day, RCB managed to restrict Chennai Super Kings to just 160 runs as Glenn Maxwell, Harshal Patel and Josh Hazlewood put on their hands to defend the target.
