Ready to accept what comes along with Rishabh Pant: Rohit Sharma | Cricket News – Times of India

Bengaluru: It has been a season of change for Team India. From head coach to captain and old guard making way for the new, the transition appears to be smooth.
coach Rahul Dravid Coaching isn’t new to the set-up or the players, and it shows effectively on the field. Same with the new captain Rohit Sharma,
as well, Hanuma Vihari And Shreyas Iyerinstead of Cheteshwar Pujara And Ajinkya Rahane, seem to have come into their own. Especially Iyer has shown enthusiasm and passion. Jasprit Bumrah Showcased his versatility with his maiden half-century on home soil, that too on a turning pitch.

The biggest advantage for India has been the development of the wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant in long format. Apart from the 185 runs he piled in the series, the 24-year-old also took five catches and three sharp stumpings and was named Man of the Series.
Captain Rohit focused on the main men and takeaways of the series.
Part:
On Test captaincy: I have not captained much in the red ball except in a few matches in the Ranji Trophy. It was a big deal to lead in Tests here. I got the support of the team on the field, they were telling me what to do and what not to do. There are some senior members in the team who understand the game very well and I have their opinion. I also have my studies about sports. But ultimately you act on instinct and my captaincy philosophy is to decide at the point that feels right to you, keeping in mind where the game is going. I try to analyze these things at the ground level.

On Rishabh Pant’s point of view: We know how he bats. As a team, we want to give him the freedom to bat the way he wants to bat, but also keeping in mind certain conditions of the game. We have told him but we want him to stick to his game plan as a team. I think we are ready to accept whatever comes along with Pant. And the most important factor in this series was his wicketkeeping. His keeping was the best I have seen.

On Shreyas Iyer’s stellar form: I am very impressed with his performance because it is not easy to play on these pitches especially when you are playing your third or fourth Test. He showed a lot of patience. He understood what he really wanted to do on that pitch. He has gone with a plan and to have that kind of mindset for someone who is just playing his fourth Test, shows a lot of maturity, has a lot of understanding of his game, which is a good sign for us.
On Jasprit Bumrah’s performance: Of course, splendid. somehow bumrah Whatever the circumstances, he is never out of the game and this gives a lot of benefits to the captain such as moving around and getting the best out of each bowler. To bowl on certain pitches, you need certain skill sets, and he brings those skills into play depending on the kind of assist he has received from the pitch. Shami should also not be forgotten, he was also brilliant in the light.
