Recommendation on 5G spectrum likely in late March or early April: Trai Chairman

TRAI Chairman PD Vaghela said on March 16 that the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) may submit its recommendations on 5G spectrum by the end of this month or early April.

Addressing an online lecture on “5G: A Next Generation Technology” organized by the Administrative Staff College of India (ASCI) in Hyderabad, he said, TRAI immediately started working on the work after receiving the reference in October last year. Is.

“Because, a lot of work needs to be done. A lot of technical studies are needed. When it comes to spectrum auctions, usually we take about seven to eight months to make recommendations. But, this time, we worked very hard. And I am sure we will be able to give recommendation by March 31st or maybe first or second week of April. But, we will try to give it before March 31st.

“After that, I think the government has announced that they will auction it as soon as possible,” he said. He expressed hope that it can be implemented in the next four-five months after the auction and the existing 4G network can be used for 5G launch.

He was asked when 5G services are likely to start in the country.
