Record FASTag collection points to recovery road – Times of India

New Delhi: Through Toll Collection fastag The all-time high touched Rs 122.3 crore in a single day on Saturday, indicating more economic activity and transport related activities especially during the festive season.
An overall trend also shows that the total revenue on all days increased during the previous week as compared to the previous week. according to the data of NHAIEarlier on March 27, the maximum collection was Rs 106.3 crore before the second wave of Covid-19 hit. The data also shows that the daily toll collection increased by 5-8% during the last week as compared to the user charges collected by the toll operators exactly a week ago.
All 722 toll plazas on national highways and another 196 toll plazas on state highways or roads charge user fees only through FASTag. Commercial and heavy vehicles account for about 82 per cent of the total toll charges, while cars contribute barely 18% to the total tolls. Apart from higher traffic on highways, the other two factors contributing to the increase in toll collection include annual increase in toll charges and bringing more complete parts under tolling system.
