RECPDCL hands over transmission SPV to Indigrid

New Delhi: REC Power Development and Consultancy Limited (RECPDCL), a subsidiary of state-run REC Limited, has commissioned the Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) set up for construction of a transmission project to supply power from 1 gigawatt (GW) renewable energy projects in Osmanabad. Handed over to Indigrid. 1 Limited and Indigrid 2 Limited on Tuesday.

This comes in the backdrop of the Ministries of Power and New and Renewable Energy having approved 23 Inter State Transmission System Projects (ISTS) with an estimated cost of Rs 15,893 crore.

“The consortium of Indigrid 1 Limited and Indigrid 2 Limited has been a successful bidder as the Bidding Process Coordinator for the Inter-State Transmission Project of Ministry of Power, Government of India and RECPDCL,” REC said in a statement.

India’s non-fossil fuel-based capacity has met its Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) target of 40% in COP 21. According to the government, installed electricity capacity from non-fossil fuels will reach 66% by 2030. Also, India has already reduced emissions by 28%.

“Selection of the successful bidder was done through Tariff Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) process in line with the Standard Bidding Documents and Guidelines for Selection of Transmission Developers, as notified by the Ministry of Power, Government of India. This includes setting up of LILO of 400/220 kV sub-station and 400 kV double circuit Parli-Pune transmission line. The project is targeted to be completed in 18 months.

India recently announced at COP26 in Glasgow to reduce net carbon emissions to zero by 2070. According to the Central Electricity Authority, by 2030, the country’s electricity requirement will be 817GW, of which more than half will be clean energy, and 280GW will be from solar power alone.
