Regasa, Cheptai win elite race in Delhi Half Marathon

Ethiopia’s Chala Regasa and Kenya’s Irene Cheptai won the men’s and women’s elite races respectively at the Vedanta Delhi Half Marathon in New Delhi on October 16, 2022.

Regasa won the race with a time of 1 hour 30 seconds, while Cheptai topped the women’s event with a personal best of 1:06:42.

In the men’s race, Felix Kipkoch of Kenya and Boki Diriba of Ethiopia finished second and third with times of 1:00:33 and 1:00:34 respectively.

Ethiopia’s Davit Seyum and Uganda’s Stella Chesang finished second and third in the women’s race with 1:08:02 and 1:08:11.

Steeple chaser Avinash Sable won the Indian men’s elite race by just 0.04 seconds ahead of Karthik Kumar and Srinu Bugatha. Sable and Kumar both took 1:04:00, but the former won by the narrowest margin.

The Indian women’s elite race was won by Sanjeevani Yadav, who clocked 1:17:53. Monika Athara and Preeti Lamba finished second and third with 1:18:39 and 1:19:06.
