With International Museum Day falling on 18 May, the Regional Science Center and Planetarium (RSC), Kozhikode, is celebrating the present week as Museum Week from 16 to 20 May. Various programs were organized for children and adults during this time.

The celebrations began on Monday with an ‘Open Air Science Show’, which included experiments based on ‘Science in Daily Life’. A selfie corner with the theme of the week has also been set up in the center courtyard.

Local collectors of historical and scientific artifacts will come together at the center on Tuesday to showcase their precious collections and share their experiences. Wednesday is an origami workshop day. A workshop on clay modeling and pottery and sky observation is the highlight of Thursday. The function will conclude on Friday with a painting competition for the children.

“This year we have tried to include such events which can appeal to children as well as adults,” said KM Sunil, education officer, RSC.

Admission to the planetarium is free during the week-long festivals, although visitors must pay for the 3D theater and shows in the planetarium. Competitions are open to children up to the age of 15.
