In 79 AD, Pompeii was buried in the lava and ashes of Mr. Vesuvius, killing most of the inhabitants of the vibrant city. Neglect and mismanagement almost caused a second death in 2010, when a wall collapsed and the site risked losing its designation as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Pompeii is experiencing a rebirth these days.
