Remember Campa Cola? Soft drink ready to return this Diwali

If you’re a kid from the 80s or 90s, you definitely remember Campa Cola! India’s very own soft drink brand, Campa Cola ruled the market for 15 years until the arrival of foreign players (PepsiCo and Coca-Cola) in the late 90s. This homemade soft drink came in pet bottles (both glass and plastic) with ‘Campa’ written on it. There were also three flavors – cola, lime and orange. Later the brand came up with a jeera soda version for a desi taste. But, over the years, Campa took a backseat as people indulged more in other soft drinks available in the market. And as a result, Campa’s sales were limited to only a few specific regions. But according to the report of PTI, Reliance has recently acquired it. cold drink Campa, a brand of Delhi based Pure Drinks Group.

“The deal is estimated to be around Rs 22 crore and Reliance Retail Ventures will launch it around Diwali for general merchandise and local markets, said sources close to the development,” the report said.

The report further states that Reliance Retail Ventures (retail arm of Reliance Group) has already launched three variants of the drink (cola, orange and lemon) at select stores.

The acquisition is in line with Reliance’s plans to foray into the FMGC sector. Earlier, Isha Ambani, Director, Reliance Retail Ventures, announced at the company’s Annual General Meeting, “The objective of this business is to develop and deliver high quality, affordable products that solve the daily needs of every Indian. “
