With the COVID-19 pandemic bringing unprecedented changes in working life, a study has revealed that 82% of the respondents admitted that they prefer to work from home to go back to the office.

According to Tech Talent Outlook by job site SCIKEY, the remote working trend was initially forced on employees due to the pandemic, however, after two years remote working has become a new normal and as things have settled, new habits have become.

The Talent Tech Outlook 2022 study is an analysis of input from over 100 C-Suite and human capital leaders across four continents, conducted by SCIKEY through surveys, social media inputs, interviews and panel discussions.

The study further revealed that 64% of employees said that they are more productive working from home and feel less stressed.

The new normal for HR shifted from face-to-face engaging with far-flung employees, whom they only meet almost most of the time, it said.

Meanwhile, the study found that only 18% of tech hiring managers are using psychological assessment as a part of the hiring process in 2022, down from 68% in 2019.

Since remote is the new normal, offices will also become occasional meet-and-greets and alternative workplaces, the study noted.

It added that over 67 per cent of companies admit that hiring talent is becoming increasingly difficult with only office working conditions.

However, two years of remote work has given a sense of new flexibility that benefits both employers and employees, it added.

The study noted that more than 70% of HR and tech managers admit that giving spot or quick rewards for a job well done is more important to retaining a workforce that is scattered and needs regular attention. Apparently ‘little’ inspiration is needed.
