Reservoir near full capacity in the district. Coimbatore News – Times of India

Coimbatore: Almost all the dams in Coimbatore and Tiruppur have reached their full capacity, thanks to heavy rains in the catchment areas in the past few days.
As the water flow has increased, water has been released from all the reservoirs including Sholayar, Aliyar, Thirumurthy and Amaravati dams.
PWD officials said the water level in the Aliyar dam has reached 118.5 feet against the full reservoir level of 120 feet. About 440 cubic feet per second (cusec) of water from the dam is released into the Aliyar river and another 570 cusecs into the Pollachi and Vettakaranaputhur canals.
The water level of Sholair Dam has reached its full reservoir level of 160 feet and about 2,140 cusecs of water is being released from the dam. The water level at Tirumurti Dam and Amaravati Dam in Tiruppur has also risen by 49 feet (as against full reservoir level of 60 feet) and 88.5 feet (against full reservoir level of 90 feet) respectively. While more than 1,800 cusecs of water is being released from the Amaravati dam, about 1,000 cusecs of water is being released from the Tirumurti dam. news network
