Residents of 26 settlements took an oath to stay away from id liquor

Residents of about 26 hamlets in Visanpeta and A. Konduru and Gampalgudem mandals NTR District During the ‘Parivartan 2.0’ event here on July 12, he promised to stop making illegal distilled (ID) liquor.

He handed over the utensils and raw material used to prepare the ID liquor to the police and later urged them to ensure alternative livelihood options.

Following the directions of Director General of Police (DGP) KV Rajendranath Reddy, NTR District Police and special enforcement bureau (SEB) organized the event.

Speaking on the occasion, Commissioner of Police Kanthi Rana Tata assured jobs to all eligible youths from 172 families who had left the illegal trade.

“Police in collaboration with Andhra Pradesh Skill Development Corporation and PVSR Group, a consultancy offered jobs to villagers in 30 different companies,” said Mr. Kanthi Rana Tata.

Director of SEB A. Ramesh Reddy appealed to the villagers to abstain from making or selling ID liquor and to make NTR district ‘arak free’.

“We appeal to the villagers to stop making, selling and consuming ID liquor,” said Mr. Ramesh Reddy.

Later, members of 172 families, who were earlier manufacturing Arak, took an oath to stop making and selling ID liquor in the presence of community and village heads.

Shri Kanti Rana, Deputy Commissioner of Police D. Mary Prashanti, Joint Director of SEB Moka Saathi Babu interacted with the villagers. He inquired about the problems being faced by the police stations and assured to take up the issues with the concerned officers.
