Residents of Sivanmalai in Tiruppur demand steps to control the spread of dust from stone quarries

Residents of Ramapattinam village near Shivanamalai in Kangeyam on Monday approached District Collector S. Vineet, seeking steps to control the spread of fine particles of dust from the nearby stone quarries.

At the weekly grievance redressal meeting, villagers said that the dust mites caused respiratory problems to humans and cattle and damaged crops in the fields.

Diwali Bonus

The contractual employees of Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation have filed a petition with the district administration seeking to make the Diwali bonus at par with the level 3 and 4 permanent employees. He said that this would benefit more than 10,000 workers across the district.

asked for a lease

Some residents of Devarayampalayam village near Avinashi staged a sit-in in the collectorate premises demanding a lease. He alleged that despite filing several petitions, the administration did not take any step to release the lease.

In the meeting, Mr. Vineet received 637 petitions related to land lease, old age pension, road facility and new ration card.
