Helped by festive demand, retail sales improved in August to 88% of pre-pandemic levels, a survey showed on Wednesday.
According to a survey by the Retailers Association of India, in July, sales were at 72% of the level seen two years ago. “Retail businesses in North and South India have shown an improvement in sales… with sales of 98% and 97% respectively at pre-pandemic levels (August 2019), 78% (North India) and 82% (South India) ) as against ) sales in July,” it said. Sales in West and East were 76% and 81% of the sales seen in August 2019.
