Kanpur: Experienced Akshdeep Nathi, Rinku Singho and Dhruv Chandy jurale Saved Uttar Pradesh after a poor start and put them in a comfortable position as the team posted 268 for 7 in 90 overs on the opening day of their four-day Ranji Trophy match on Thursday.

Akshdeep Nath stole the show on day one as he played a sheet anchor and scored his 91 off 205 balls which included 13 fours and a six. they were supported by Rinku Singh and the duo put on a 112-run partnership that pulled their team to the doll drum. Their union fell apart when Rinku Singh was stumped by AA Sarwate’s AV Wadkar, Rinku scoring 65 off 99 balls and hitting 10 fours and two sixes.
Wicketkeeper Dhruv Chand Jurel forced Akshdeep Nath and the two Vidarbha bowlers to work hard for their wickets. It was the misfortune of Akshdeep Nath that he missed his century by 9 runs. He and Jurel added 85 runs for the sixth wicket in their union, which strengthened UP’s innings. Jurell batted confidently and played the rival bowlers carefully.
He was batting on 52 off 121 balls and sent the ball over the fence nine times. Yash Dayal was with him at the other end and he scored just one run in 3 balls.
