Team India has a chance to make a strong comeback in ICC t20 world cup The toss was shattered after Virat Kohli lost the toss to Pakistan and the mighty Indian batting line-up had no answer to the Black Caps’ bowling attack on Sunday. There were 54 dot balls which meant that India scored no runs in nine of their 20 overs. In the end, India could manage 110 runs on the board and the bowlers were left with little to defend. New Zealand won the match with 33 balls to spare with 8 wickets remaining. However, a glimmer of hope appeared during the first innings of the clash when Rohit Sharma was almost dismissed for another golden duck of the tournament. Facing his first delivery after an early departure from Ishan Kishan, Sharma pulled Trent Boult over fine leg straight into Adam Milne’s pocket. Milne dropped the sitar and Sharma was given the Golden Lifeline.

Seeing the incident, Sharma’s wife Ritika Sajdeh, who was sitting in Dubai, gasped and heaved a sigh of relief. His priceless response was captured on the big screen and later shared on microblogging site Twitter.

Unfortunately, Sharma could not take advantage of this and could only add 14 to the total. The defeat also meant that Team India’s chances of making the semi-finals were put on the waiting list and they would now have to win all the remaining battles. Also, apart from anticipating major turmoil in the group, their ICC T20 World Cup journey will see a turnaround.

A clearly disappointed Kohli left no stone unturned to analyze India’s second consecutive defeat in the World Cup. “Quite bizarre,” replied Kohli when asked to comment on the performance during the post-match presentation.

“I don’t think we were brave enough with bat or ball. We didn’t have much to defend but we weren’t brave enough when we got on the field. When you play for the Indian cricket team you have a lot of expectations. Not just from the fans, but from the players as well.”
