Road named after late Erode (East) MLA Thirumahan Evra

A road in Erode town is named after E. Thirumahan EvraLate Congress MLA from Erode (East) Assembly constituency, who passed away in January this year.

Housing and Urban Development Minister S. Muthusamy unveiled the new sign board named ‘Thirumagan EVR Road’ at Panneerselvam Park Junction in the presence of Collector H. Krishnanunni, Mayor S. Nagarathinam, Erode MP A. Ganeshmurthy, in the presence of the deceased MLA’s father and Sitting MLA EVKS Elangovan,

Mr Evra passed away on January 4 due to cardiac arrest, after which Corporation passes resolution to rename Kacheri Street In Ward 43 of Zone 4 where his house is.

Mr Muthusamy told the media that Chief Minister MK Stalin wanted to rename the road so that the MLA would always be remembered. “reason of by-election in the constituencyThe renaming process could not be done then,” he said.

Mr. Elangovan told reporters that he would continue the work left by his son.

Besides this, he requested to install the statue of former MP SK Paramasivam in the premises of Aavin in Chithode as he was instrumental in increasing milk production in the district. The senior Congress legislator also demanded a statue for freedom fighter GS Lakshmanan Iyer at Gobichettipalayam.

Deputy Mayor V. Selvaraj, Municipal Commissioner P. Janaki Raveendran, Executive Engineer Vijayakumar, Zone Presidents, Councilors and officers were present.
