his second film RockyPresented by actor Nayanthara and director Vignesh Shivan, filmmakers Bharathiraja and Rohini join the cast. It is ready to hit the screens today. Excerpts from a phone interview with the actor:

from trailer, Rocky Looks like an intense drama. What attracted you to the script?

It is very close to my heart. Afterwards Taramani, I was looking for something really different, and RockyThe story was by far the best I’ve heard. I fell in love with the script and felt it should be my second film. I signed on to other projects only later Rocky were frozen. I expected it to be a theatrical release and it is finally happening.

I want the audience to enjoy the cinematic experience that it has to offer. It is an action drama with lots of emotions. The way it is shot and presented, it feels like a European action drama.

Both your films have seen their share of delays…

I have been patient for so many years. This is the reason why I am able to survive in this industry. Taramani was a long process; We started shooting in December 2013 and the film released in August 2017. RockyThe shooting of the film started in the middle of 2018 and now it is releasing. Looking back, I have done only two films since 2014. But I am sure I have done a good job. This belief keeps me going.

What did you do to keep the actor in you engaged during these intermittent years?

II kept myself motivated; I saw people around me, which is important for an actor. I enjoyed solitude and spent time in Tiruvannamalai and Auroville.

How was it working with a veteran director like Ram and then with debutant Arun Matheswaran?

IWith Ram sir, everything happens on the spot. You go to the set with the idea of a scene, but it develops there. There is no script book… the film just develops on the sets. Working with him was raw. Arun was a dialogue writer irudhi sutru And the director Thiagarajan comes from Kumararaja’s ideology, and it is well planned. We knew how many shots we would take on which day, because everything was prepared in advance.

what next?

I have signed three projects; There are light-hearted, romantic movies as well as dark subjects. The next year looks interesting as there will be no difference, and the movies will continue to play.
