Royal Enfield Scram spotted on public roads in latest test video

Royal Enfield’s upcoming new motorcycle, the Royal Enfield Scream has been spotted testing in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. As a test bike, it appears to be an advanced prototype and almost production-ready, so Royal Enfield is gearing up to launch the new model in the next few months. The RE Scrum is a more road-oriented model based on the Royal Enfield Himalayan, and is likely to be a more affordable variant when launched, based on the same Himalayan platform, sharing the same engine and frame.

From what we can see from the video, the front wheel is of a smaller size as compared to the 21-inch front wheel of the Himalaya, going with the road-oriented personality of the bike. The 411 cc, single-cylinder engine is expected to remain unchanged at 24.3 bhp at 6,500 rpm and 32 Nm at 4,000-4,500 rpm, as is the 5-speed gearbox. The shape of the fuel tank seems to be the same as that of the Himalaya and so does the seat. What has changed is the riding position, with the scrum offering a slightly sportier stance than the upright ADV stance of the Himalayan.

Along with the smaller front wheel, the bike also gets a different front mudguard, as well as slightly different side panels, and a different two-pod instrument console, which is likely shared with the Royal Enfield Meteor 350. The suspension travel has been reduced as compared to the Himalayan. Also, so the scrum sits closer to the ground, and the steering geometry appears to vary with a tighter rake angle.

More details are expected to be announced in the next few months when we expect the Royal Enfield Scrum to launch. Test mules have been spotted for the past several months, so Royal Enfield is probably almost ready with a production model, and the launch is likely to happen very soon.
