RR vs MI: Sky, Green, David help Indians beat Royals by 6 wickets

Five-time IPL champions Mumbai Indians defeated Rajasthan Royals by 6 wickets with 3 balls to spare on Sunday.

Sanju Samson-led Rajasthan Royals scored 212 for 6 against Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on 30 April.

Rajasthan Royals innings:

Rajasthan Royals won the toss and decided to bat first. Opener Yashasvi Jaiswal stood on the pitch and scored a century. He scored 124 runs in 62 balls. Barring Jaiswal, no player could cross the 20-run mark as wickets fell quickly.

While it was expected that Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium would favor batsmen other than Jaiswal, the pitch seemed to suit the home side.

Jos Buttler (18), Sanju Samson (14), Devdutt Padikkal (4), Jason Holder (11), Shimron Hetmyer (8), Dhruv Jurel (2), Ravichandran Ashwin* (8) and Trent Boult* (0). These scores showed a poor performance by the RR batsmen on the Mumkabai pitch.

In the 100th match of IPL at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai Indians bowler Arshad Khan took 3, Piyush Chawla took 2, while Riley Meredith and Jofra Archer took 1-1 wickets.

Mumbai Indians innings:

Chasing a target of 213, MI openers skipper Rohit Sharma (3) and Ishan Kishan (28) fell short of expectations and were dismissed within nine overs.

However, Cameron Green (44) and Suryakumar Yadav (55) shared a useful partnership. He was dismissed by Ashwin and Boult in the 11th and 16th overs.

After this Tilak Verma (29) and Tim David (45) took over and gave Mumbai Indians a win in 19.3 overs.

For RR, Ravichandran Ashwin took 2 wickets while Trent Boult and Sandeep Sharma took one wicket each.

With this, Mumbai have won their fourth match and moved up to the 7th position in the IPL points table, while RR have slipped a rung to the 3rd position.
