RSS, SDPI trying to polarize society in Kerala: Kodiyeri Balakrishnan

CPM secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan said that RSS and SDPI are trying to polarize Kerala. He also said that the killings in Palakkad district were pre-planned.

Balakrishnan said the aim of both the RSS and the SDPI is to destabilize the government.

Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPM) Kerala State Secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan On Tuesday, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and the Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI), the political wing of the Islamic organization Popular Front of India (PFI), were trying to polarize Kerala.

“Both the groups aim to create polarization in the society and make political gains. There is a conspiracy behind these incidents to destroy the religious harmony prevailing in the state”, the CPI(M) state secretary said.

“Majority fundamentalism is trying to grow by pointing out minority fundamentalism and vice versa. Both the groups are trying to spread fear in their religions and trying to establish that they are your saviors. This is a conscious attempt to create communal polarization,” Kodiyeri said.

“Two months back a similar incident took place in Alappuzha district. Both sides are nurturing criminal gangs for murder and retaliation within hours. It will destroy the peaceful life in the country. Both the communal forces are trying to mobilize the people behind them in the name of religion. Both are playing political games by using their religion to gain political mileage. Therefore, true believers in religions should take a tough stand against these groups. Majority of the people of both the religions oppose these extremist attitudes and such killings.”

“The Sangh Parivar is carrying out such works which are a matter of concern among the minorities across the country. The activities of the Sangh Parivar are aimed at weakening the secular tradition and constitutional rights of the country. And SDPI is spreading extremist ideologies by shaping the concerns of minorities on this issue. Such an effort would give impetus to majoritarian fundamentalism. Secularism should be nurtured by rejecting communalism. That’s the only way to deal with it.”

“The people should isolate the rebels. RSS and SDPI are now blaming the Kerala government. They are also seen working together in the movement against the government. The aim of both the parties is to destabilize the government. The police had foiled an attempt to incite communal riots on the basis of the killings in Alappuzha,” Kodiyeri Balakrishnan said.
