New Delhi: Russia Deeply nurtures equal and respectful relations with India and the multifaceted cooperation between the two strategic partners is one of the world’s “widest” ones, Russian Ambassador Denis Alipov Said. Alipov’s statement comes amid the Russian attack on Ukraine. India has not yet condemned the Russian action and pressed for a solution to the crisis through dialogue.
Referring to 75 years of Indo-Russian ties, Alipov said both the countries have been successful in forging “true friendship and mutual trust” over the years.
“Today’s Russia-India multi-faceted cooperation is one of the most comprehensive in the world, with regular meetings of two intergovernmental commissions, sector-wise ministerial, security advisory and senior official interactions, Foreign Office consultations and coordination in the global arena.” Told.
He said that Russia and India were among the first countries in the world to establish the practice of annual bilateral summits.
“Our positions on core issues are similar or matched, emphasizing the need for the United Nations to have a just and equal multipolarity and to oppose unilateral and confrontational approaches,” Alipov said.
“We continue to closely coordinate on the BRICS agenda as well as the G20 and the SCO, which will be chaired by India in 2022-2023,” he said.
The envoy said that Russia and India continue to successfully implement key initiatives, which make cooperation “unique”.
Among them, he said, are the Kudankulam nuclear power plant project, the AK-203 rifle manufacturing programme, cooperation in combat aviation, construction of main battle tanks as well as frigates, submarines, BrahMos and other missile projects.
“With bilateral trade volumes increasing by over 45 percent in 2021, this positive trend is complemented by deeper cooperation in energy and fertilizers in 2022,” Alipov said.
He said that the implementation of the North-South Transport Corridor project is being given priority and the Free Trade Agreement between the two countries is being completed soon. Eurasian Economic Union and India.
