Sachin Tendulkar files complaint with Mumbai Crime Branch over use of his name, photo and voice in ‘fake advertisements’

Mumbai Police has registered an FIR against unknown people for using cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar’s name, photo and voice to promote pharmaceutical products without his permission, an official said on Friday. He said that an aide of Tendulkar lodged a complaint in this regard at the West Zone Cyber ​​Police Station on Thursday. The complainant stated that he received online advertisements from a pharmaceutical company, which claimed that Master Batter was endorsing its product line.

They also found a website, sachinhealth.in, which promoted these products using Tendulkar’s picture. Since Tendulkar had never given permission to the company to use his name and photographs and was tarnishing his image, he instructed his associate to take legal action. action, the complaint said.

An FIR was registered against unknown persons under sections 420 (cheating), 465 (forgery) and 500 (defamation) of the Indian Penal Code besides the Information Technology Act, the official said, adding further investigation was underway.
